Synopsis: Team Effectiveness Questionnaire

Research shows there are 8 dimensions of an effective team:

  1. Purpose & Goles
  2. Roles
  3. Team Processes
  4. Team Relationships
  5. Intergroup Relations
  6. Problem Solving Capability
  7. Passion & Commitment
  8. Skills and Continuous Learning


After the team estimates the overall effectiveness of the team using a very simple scale, a questionnaire is often used to have team members rate themselves on specific questions under these dimensions. Other dimensions may be added based on preliminary discussions with the executive leaders. The key is prioritizing and assigning tasks and tracking progress to focus on the critical few areas for effectiveness improvement.
