With people changing organizations faster than the pace of change itself, there are more teams with either new leaders or new team members than ever before. As new leaders take on a new team, it can take months before the employees feel like they know the new leader.
Generally, a New Leader Assimilation (NLA) is done somewhere in the first 60-90 days of a new leader's placement. While often used in larger companies, companies of any size can benefit from speeding up the learning curve of employees with their new leader. Typically, a facilitator meet with the employees without the leader in the room and asks some simple questions to get info that will allow employees to ask questions that may otherwise delay employee engagement. The facilitator takes all of the notes and meets with the leader to answer any questions to maintain the anonymity of the employees. The new leader then gets back with the team and answers any questions or makes comments about plans and changes.
